Emini Futures Trading
One of the great advantages of the futures market for traders is the excellent leverage available. This high leverage allows even those with smaller accounts to get started with trading a single Emini contract whilst not taking on too much overall risk. Leverage is of course a double-edged sword for traders. It both increases potential profits and potential risk of loss, but with a good plan and a defined maximum risk this increased leverage is a very useful tool.
Emini S&P Futures
To successfully trade eMini futures an account size should be at least $5,000 for a new day trader who is just getting their start in the live market. Risk management is vital when trading eMini futures, especially for a newer trader. They must tared ina way that allows occasional losses without decimating the health of their account. The eMini futures is quoted in “points”. One whole point is $50 but the eMini trades in quarter points (025) increments. This a one point move is carried out on 0.25 movements, each 0.25 being worth $12.50. The eMini is the world’s most liquid futures contract and it gives traders the ability to trade huge sums of money.
To make money with consistency requires a few things from a trading approach:
A tested, winning trading strategy that is adaptable to the market and works in a variety of conditions
A system that has more winning trades than losing trades
A system that has bigger wins than losses (aim for average wins twice as large as your average losses)
S&P Futures Trading
There are four main S&P futures, the E-mini S&P 500, E-Mini S&P MidCap 400, E-Mini S&P SmallCap 600 and the S&P 500. These cater to different types of traders, with the E-Mini S&P 500 being the most popular among all traders. That is not to say that the other contracts do not trade, but the eMini takes most of the volume. S&P Futures trading is an challenging and interesting way to make a living. Often a successful trader can work only 90 minutes per day, and this is one thing that makes trading an attractive full time career or indeed a part time money maker. So if you are retired and want a great hobby or just want to make some money in your spare time, consider trading.
